Welcome to another installment of Tuesday Skincare 101 (12 hours later; sorry problems attaching photos last night)! This will be a 2-part blog. Part I will be my feedback on these products after 3 weeks of use.. Part II will be a follow-up blog updating my feedback with further use.
I've been using the L'OREAL Texture Perfector Serum & Day/Night Moisturizer for about 3 weeks. These particular products debuted within the last year (not certain but I think the original product release was the L'OREAL Age Perfect collection). As you've seen from previous post, my skin type is combination. From time to time, I have some acne outbreaks that usually occur on the cheeks or jawline. In the past, they happened more frequently. They've since stopped with changes to my diet and skin care routine. Otherwise, my skin has always been in pretty good condition.
Based on some reviews seen online and in magazines, I decided to try out these products.
Youth Code Texture Perfector Serum Concentrate

The product texture is very smooth and has a nice fragrant (pleasant but not overwhelming) scent. The texture is very light and soft (not too light or too creamy). The serum mattifies pretty quickly on the skin. The only thing I noticed is from time-to-time, I feel a stinging sensation in my pores (on both sides of my nose) instantly after applying. The stinging does subside about a minute after. I'm not sure if this is due to my enlarged pores and those particular areas of my face being sensitive or not. This is something I found to be odd and not a fan of. I checked the L'OREAL site and noticed that the ingredients listing displays alcohol. It doesn't bother me too much. As of stated before, this only happens once in a while. However, for those of you with sensitive skin, this is something to consider. This products retails for $24.99.
Youth Code Texture Perfector Day/Night Cream
1.7 OZ. (48g) |
The moisturizer is contained in similar packaging (glass). The glass is a rounded jar containing 1.7 ounces of product. As with most moisturizers, the consistency is a creamy texture (very light). Because this is sold in a glass jar, you have to use your finger (or other instrument) to get the product out. I'm not a fan of this as it's too easy to use too much product. In my opinion, moisturizers and most liquid based skin products are always better with pumps.
Other similarities to the serum are the following:
- Mattifies on the skin quickly
- Light and fragrant scent
- Small amount of product goes a long way (very concentrated)
Since I've began using this product, I've noticed the following changes:
- Increased brightness of my skin
- Increased firmness and smoother texture
- Slight decreased visibility of hyper-pigmentation
Thanks for taking time to check out my blog. I'll post another update in a few weeks. If you've used these products before or still using today, share your thoughts below?
